Sarah Smith VaughtThe Little Missionary went to be with her Lord and Savior early Monday morning, November 5th, 2007 after breaking her hip and suffering a coma.She was born in Brazil, South America of pioneering missionary parents Perrin and Ana Bastos Smith in 1919. Visitation will be at Harry Moore Family Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Nov. 8, 2007. Funeral Service is at Harry Moore at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Rd. Indpls. Sarah was born in the Amazon jungle in Northern Brazil high on a hill overlooking the little Village of Barra do Corda in Maranhao State. Her father, being a missionary, set an example that would rub off on her and last her entire life. She was employed by Eli Lilly Co. until her retirement, where she was often called by associates as “The Little Missionary” as she was distributing Christian literature and witnessing for Jesus Christ on her breaks and after hours. For many years, she distributed thousands of the devotional “Our Daily Bread” by mailing and delivering some in bulk to her former associates, hospitals, doctors and business offices, as well as singularly distributing them to neighbors, family, friends and acquaintances. Now in Heaven, she’s having fellowship with other deceased family members and friends including many she led to the Lord through her ministry. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, a brother and one sister in the States, three sisters in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, as well as many nephews and nieces throughout the U.S. as well as Rio de Janerio, Belo Horizonte, and other more remote places in Brazil.Memorial contributions may be made to RBC Ministries, Our Daily Bread, 3000 Kraft Ave. SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49512
